Skool Master Suite

What this extension reads, sends, and stores — explained by what the code actually does, not a generic legal template.

Version 0.0.1 (Beta) Effective since September 3, 2026 Own server: none

01 Quick summary

  • There's no server of our own.Everything runs in your browser. No one on this project sees your posts, comments, or messages.
  • Only two external destinations. The text you translate goes to Google Translate's public API; a community's slug goes to skool-finder.com. Nothing else leaves your device.
  • Zero sale or transfer of data.No analytics, no advertisers, no user profiles anywhere outside your own browser.
  • Everything is optional and reversible. Each feature can be turned off individually from settings, and uninstalling the extension erases everything it stored.

02 What the extension does

Skool Master Suite adds features on top of the skool.com pages you already have open: translation of posts and comments, bookmarks, community event reminders, browser notifications, dark mode, chat read receipts, public community stats, and a few more editing and organization utilities. Each one is an independent module you can turn off without affecting the others.

03 Permissions it requests and why

The extension's manifest declares the bare minimum needed for the above. Nothing is requested "just in case."

PermissionTypeWhat it's used for
storage Required Store your settings, bookmarks, and translation cache in this browser.
alarms Required Schedule community event reminders. Manifest V3 offers no other way to run something minutes or hours later that survives the service worker shutting down.
notifications Optional Show browser notifications. Not requested on install — only when you enable "Browser Notifications" in settings, and if you decline, it isn't asked for again unless you turn it on yourself.
*://*.skool.com/* Required Read the content of the Skool pages you already have open as a logged-in user, in order to inject the extension's features onto them.
*://translate.googleapis.com/* Required Send the text you ask to translate to Google Translate's public endpoint. See details below.
*://skool-finder.com/* Required Look up a community's public ranking. See details below.

04 What leaves your browser

Only two requests go out beyond skool.com, and both are limited to exactly what the triggering feature needs.

Translation — translate.googleapis.com

GET https://translate.googleapis.com/translate_a/single?client=gtx&sl=auto&tl={language}&q={text}

It's the same free public endpoint used by translate.google.com itself — no API key, no account, no Skool session cookies attached. Only the fragment of text being translated at that moment travels (a post, a comment, or whatever you're typing).

Before sending, @mentions and the community name are masked out so they aren't part of the translated text. Since it's an unofficial endpoint, Google can rate-limit or change it without notice — if that happens, translation simply fails and the original content stays as it was.

Community stats — skool-finder.com

GET https://skool-finder.com/en/community/{community-slug}

A public, unauthenticated request to the community identifier already visible in the Skool URL you have open — the same thing any visitor would see by going straight to that address. No cookies or account data are sent.

05 What's stored on your device

Everything else stays in the extension's own storage, in your browser. local means it never leaves this device; sync means your own Chrome or Firefox account syncs it across your devices, exactly like it does with any other setting — this project has no way to read that data in transit.

FeatureWhat it storesScope
General settings Interface language, enabled modules, sidebar size and view. local
Translation Languages you exclude from translation, preferred language per community, and a cache of translations already made — the original text is stored as a hash, never in plain text. local
Bookmarks The posts and comments you choose to save. local
Pinned communities How you organize and group your communities in the sidebar. sync
Notifications Your per-category preferences, scheduled reminders, and already-seen ids so alerts aren't repeated. Message text is never stored — see the notifications note below. local
Post and chat read state Which posts and messages you've already seen, so they aren't marked as new again. local
Dark mode Your visual theme preference. local

The notifications feature has its own detailed note, included in the project's repository (docs/PRIVACY-NOTIFICATIONS.md), with the full table of what's stored and for how long.

06 What we don't do

  • We don't run any server or database of our own — there's nowhere to accumulate your information.
  • We don't include third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs.
  • We don't sell, rent, or share data with anyone.
  • We don't read communities or pages you don't already have access to with your own Skool session.
  • We don't send passwords, session cookies, or tokens to Google Translate or skool-finder.com — those requests carry no Skool identity of yours.
  • We don't store your chat message content in plain text; where duplicates need to be avoided, only a hash is stored.

07 Your controls

  • Turn off a module: each feature is switched off individually from the extension's settings, without affecting the others.
  • Revoke notifications: turn off "Browser Notifications" in settings, or remove the notifications permission directly from your browser's extension settings.
  • Clear the translation cache or your bookmarks: available from each feature's own settings.
  • Erase everything at once: uninstalling the extension automatically deletes everything it stored, because nothing lives outside your browser.

08 Changes to this policy

If what the extension sends or stores changes, this same page is updated and the "Effective since" date in the header changes with it. There are no silent changes: if a future version starts sending something new somewhere, it's described here before it reaches production.
